A Year-long Countdown > > Our calendar of events:

Fall

• Start the Countdown to Kindergarten with us at the Annual First Day Festival
• Look out for the blue Countdown to Kindergarten tent at major festivals and community events in the Berkeley, Charleston & Dorchester Counties
• We will be visiting Berkeley, Charleston & Dorchester County Head Start programs and other childcare providers to promote enrollment for Countdown to Kindergarten

Winter

• Ask your child care provider if they are affiliated with Countdown to Kindergarten
• Look for a very special invitation in the mail…Join us at the Annual Countdown to Kindergarten Kick-off Event. Meet school representatives, receive services and information needed for school registration, and have fun!

Spring

• Register your child for kindergarten as early as possible!!!
• Ask your school for information on school open house and other events for upcoming Kindergarteners.

Summer

• Time for Kindergarten Days. We will notify you with the dates of Kindergarten Days, when the whole community celebrates your child’s entry into school.

Parent To-Do List

Show your child how important they are to you by doing the following:

• Meet or write a letter to your child’s teacher. Talk about your child’s personality and any helpful information about your child.
• Attend parent-teacher conferences each time they are offered.
• Attend family workshops and activities at your child’s school.
• Join the PTA group or other parent association.
• Volunteer in your child’s school or classroom.
• Help your child create a study area in your home. Let him know that you are available to help him with homework if he needs it.
• Make sure your child gets enough sleep at night and eats a nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.

Countdown to Kindergarten also engages numerous non-profit and health organizations, as well as businesses and civic organizations.
